Diamond Life: Marlins Making Major Moves

Ozzie Guillén celebrates with Marlins brass
The Marlins are trying to compete, not just in their division or in Major League Baseball as whole, but also in the hearts and minds of Miami locals. It’s not easy playing fourth string, behind the Heat, Dolphins, and Canes, while your attendance woes are broadcast for the world to see. The Marlins sensing that have gone into full re-branding overload, with a new state of the art ballpark in Little Havana as the centerpiece. Add in a new logo & uniform, and in a new manager in Ozzie Guillén and your all set to start over as a franchise. But it didn’t end there…..
The Marlins are going hard in the paint trying to sign free agents at the moment, locking down big time closer Heath Bell, and Jose Reyes all in one week. That’s two All-Stars, and Reyes’ contract is rumored to be in the realm of 6years for $111 million dollars. And they’re still throwing out stacks, their number one target, Albert Pujols, is still undecided about where he’s gonna go. Word has that he’s weighing multiple 10year $200 million plus offers, one from the Marlins, and the other from the Cardinals. No telling where he’ll sign, but if the Marlins get their way it’s game on for the only MLB team on the edge of the Caribbean.
