HARD IN THE PAINT: MELO CAN’T SAVE THE KNICKS

Wednesday, April 20, 2011

With Billups out, and Stoudemire having to leave the game with back problems there was only one thing Carmelo Anthony could do, and that was ball out of control. At the end of the night Melo had 42 points, 17 rebounds, 6 assist and 2 blocks but the Knicks still left Boston with an L and a 0-2 series record against the C’s. Veteran smarts, a barrage of Ray Allen 3′s(4-4), and Rajon Rondo(30 points) playing lights out led the Celtics to 96-93 win.

With 2 of NY’s big three sitting do to injury, it’s surprising the game was as close as it was. The Celtics needed a last second score and subsequent defensive save by Garnett to lock in the W. The Knicks head back to NY ailing but they have something they can build on, if Billups and Stoudemire can get healthy.

Celtics 96 – Knicks 93
