TITG: 10 Players We’re Checking For In The Senior Bowl

Saturday, January 28, 2012

Today is that day, the Senior Bowl is the last ounce of college football before a long offseason. It’s also a chance for participants to play themselves into a higher round, and you know since there’s absolutely nothing else going on in the city of Mobile that the focus has been crazy. If you didn’t know, the teams are divided Civil War style into North and South. The Redskins staff is coaching the south, and Vikings staff is holding down the north. As we like to do from time to time, we broke down 5 players on each side we think deserve a harder look. Check our list down below, and keep an eye out as we think a few of these cats could play themselves into the 1st or 2nd round.

Offense:

Nick Foles QB (Arizona) – Foles has NFL style measurables and a cannon for an arm, we wanna see if he makes accurate throws and good decisions, as a guy that could possibly move up into the late 1st round.

Mike Adams OL/North (Ohio State) – Part of the crew that took a multiple game suspension for tattoo-gate (among other things), Adams has first round talent that was somewhat overshadowed by troubles.

Ladarius Green TE/South (Louisiana-Lafayette) – Contrary to popular belief, 6’5″ TE’s that can run and catch don’t grow on trees. Ladarius Green caught NFL scouts attention down on the bayou, and has had an impressive week of practice by all reports.

Joe Adams WR/South (Arkansas) – Lightning in a bottle is one way to describe Adams, who’s one of the most electric players in the game. He’s a player in the mold of DeSean Jackson.

Terrance Ganaway RB/South (Baylor) – Built like a bowling ball with 4.4 speed, Ganaway was often overlooked in Baylor’s offensive machine due to the success of RG3 and Kendal Wright.

Defense:

Janoris Jenkins DB/South (North Alabama) – This guy right here has all of the tools, but fell victim to his own twitter account and sticky icky obsession at Florida. He took in a year at North Alabama and earned all type of praise. We’re anxious to see if he’s lost a step today after playing against D2 competition for a year.

Josh Norman DB/North (Coastal Carolina) – Guys that get invites to the senior bowl from lower divisions are always worth a look. Norman is a big DB that led Coastal Carolina in tackles this season.

Billy Winn DL/North (Boise State) – Winn and the rest of the Boise DL has made more than a few BCS teams look ridiculous in the last couple of years. That’s why we’re keeping an eye on him today, a tall d-tackle with good size and strength.

Mike Martin DL/North (Michigan) – It was hard to standout on Michigan’s defense this year, with all of the points they gave up. But they always seem to have a few big guys in the middle. Martin is that guy this year, and apparently has been impressing scouts at practice this week.

Zach Brown LB/South (North Carolina) – One thing ex-coach Bitch Davis did during his time at UNC was recruit NFL ready players. Zach Brown is one of those impressive LB’s that combines speed with an aggressive style of play. He’s also a special teams monster, that will most likely assure him a spot on an NFL roster.
