LEAGUE POLICY: NCAA PUTS THE TAR HEELS ON NOTICE

Wednesday, June 22, 2011

The North Carolina Tar Heels seem poised to get hit with serious NCAA sanctions after they were accused of “unethical conduct” and “failure to monitor players” by the four letter organization. The troubles all stem from a tweet via ex Tar Heel Marvin Austin, that opened the flood gates into a world where half of their stars were suspended, a coach had links to an agent, and mad parking tickets as of late. The coach in focus is John Blake who’s financial records tied him to late NFL agent Gary Wichard, including payments of of $45,000 in Dec. 2007, and $31,500 between 2007 – 2009. The players in question, all in the NFL now are found to have received $27,000 in improper benefits in 2009-2010 including trips to DC, Miami, the Bahamas and Los Angeles as well as black diamond encrusted watches and diamond earrings (really fellas, the obsession with male jewelry is going a little overboard, pause yourself).

The school has 90 days to respond to the NCAA findings, but don’t look for the NCAA to go super light on Carolina. If it was the hoops squad it would be a little different, but their football squad doesn’t hold elite status so the NCAA is likely to hit them with a chopper.
