TITG: Tampa Bay Still Looking At Collegiate Ranks For Head Coach, Rumors Point To Schiano

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers continue to flirt with big name college coaches to fill the head coaching position (pause), this off season. On Monday they were supposedly deep in talks with Oregon’s Chip Kelly, almost causing a full scale meltdown in the Pacific Northwest. After that failed to materialize, the rumors out of Tampa Bay now have Rutgers coach Greg Schiano nearing a deal to leave Pitscatway.
If they’re able to coax Schiano out of New Jersey, it would undoubtedly leave Rutgers with a hug hole to fill. Schiano took Rutgers from ultimately being one of the worst programs in NCAA football, to nationwide respectability. On the other hand, a 45 year Schiano could still find his way back to the collegiate ranks if a pro coaching career didn’t work out. He’d have a lot to work with in Tampa, including 3rd year players Josh Freeman, and LeGarrette Blount.
