The NFL just finished its yearly cattle call aka The Combine, where college players run, jump, throw and meet with NFL GM’s, scouts and coaches and if you’re like me, you wonder which one of these players will be the next flop at the next level. You just never know, a player can be the fastest, strongest, quickest and have the best arm in the game but no one knows how all that will translate on Sundays. The draft is looming and players’ stocks are rising and falling like its Wall Street. While we ponder this year’s flops, here’s a look back at the 50 greatest draft bust of all time via Bleacher Report
Forbes.com is back with another list, this time related to either your happiness or misery depending on location and proximity to a major/winning professional sports team. Coming in at number 1 on Forbes list of “Most Miserable Sports Cities” is the emerald city, Seattle and we kinda have a problem with that. Not that Seattle’s not a miserable sports city, they very well could be, but wouldn’t the consensus report be Cleveland with a bullet, followed by Cincy, Houston, Buffalo, and maybe Oakland?

Forbes top 5 in order were 1) Seattle, 2) Atlanta, 3) Phoenix, 4)Buffalo (another hardcore number 1 if there ever was), and 5) San Diego. Laugh at the fact that the Seahawks have actually been to a super bowl in the last decade, along with the Cardinals. Atlanta’s always had the braves and are looking up in football, and San Diego’s had a nice run over the last 7-8 years.

This season of DWTS includes Sugar Ray Leonard, and another high profile NFL player in Hines Ward. Adding to the number of NFL HOFer’s and future HOFer with Jerry Rice, Jason Taylor, Lawrence Taylor, Emmit Smith, Warren Sapp and Kurt Warner. But it begs the question, does seeing these cats on TV like this make you look at them sideways?

Does it? For example, Hines Ward is considered one of the toughest(or dirtiest depending on who you ask)players in modern NFL history. But will the site of him dressed up in an Elvis wig, with Pinochio cheek make up on, while making it pop, and simultaneously shooting pause-faces at the crowd on national TV make you look at him any differently?

DWTS has certainly done a number on a few cherished NFL icons, and how could it not, people in general should never be caught cheesing on camera with a silk choker on, much less if you’re bowed up. And on top of that, there could be a possibility that many young folk will only remember these players appearance on said show. We’ll admit that a few players need the show for P.R. purposes, Lawrence Taylor comes to mind and some players do it to meet Cheryl Burke(Chad Johnson). People like this show, and it seems the players do to, maybe we’re just tripping.

In the wake of the earthquake in Christchurch New Zealand that left the city reeling and more than 75 of its citizens dead, the fate of the Rugby World Cup matches scheduled for that city remains unknown. “Right now it doesn’t feel like we could host very much at all,” Hamish Riach, chief executive officer of the Canterbury Rugby Football Union. Christchurch planned to host seven games, the most behind Auckland, including two quarterfinal matches, all at AMI Stadium in September and October. The stadium suffered liquefaction in which the pitch bubbled as high 1.5 feet in some places and could take as many five months to fix.

The city, still in the middle of a massive rescue effort, will not be able to fully asses the damage to the stadium or make any rulings on the Rugby World Cup until the emergency of the situation has passed. If the Christchurch games are canceled, they would likely be moved to Australia.

Hank Steinbrenner had nothing but the best sideways talk for Derek Jeter and the big ass crib he built in the Tampa Bay area last season. According to the NY Post Steinbrenner said

“Sometimes you celebrate too much, players concentrating on building mansions and not concentrating on winning,”

Of course he wasn’t singling out anyone, just the cat building a house in Tampa by the name of Derek Jeter. We can’t exactly call it, but calling out the player that’s been one of the major reasons the Yanks won any world series titles while Hank’s been the owner is kind of out there. It’s not like the real reason the Yankees didn’t get to the World Series was because the Rangers pitching staff annihilated their line up. Check out the rest of the article and Jeter’s response here NYP
