The LA – SF connection has been bond again.  This time its LA based Primitive and their founders P-Rod & Andy, teaming up with Black Scale of the Yay.  The colaboration is short and sweet, a t-shirt line with clean triangle designs incorporating the logos of both brands and a snap back hat. With all of the West Coast hip hop love that these two brands give and get back from cats like Droop-E for Black Scale and Primative’s dedication to early 90′s LA Gangster rap, the collection is sure to be clean, crisp and full of Cali Love.

Cam Newton won a crystal football for Auburn this season wearing Under Armour gear, so it’s only natural that the Heisman Trophy winner inks up with the agressive upwardly mobile sports brand for his first pro endorsement. Rumors have Cam signing the most lucrative endorsement deal in history for an incoming NFL rookie, with numbers in excess of 1 million dollars a year eclipsing Reggie Bush’s Adidas contract.

Cam said in an interview he was gonna chose Auburn because his next decision after college would be a business related decision, and it looks like it’s already paying out. Your man’s getting paid regardless of a looming NFL lockout, and he’s sure to get more endorsement because he’s got a sellable personality, just saying.

Puma has enlisted super boutique UNDFTD to revamp its most iconic, classic silhouette, the Clyde for release in the Spring. The result includes a clean surface (sans Puma stripe), premium leather with a leather UNDFTD tag on the tongue. The new Clyde “Stripe Off” will be limited to 1500 pairs, above is a teaser image. BOSTON, MA – (February 11,  2011) – Sportslifestyle brand PUMA^® has partnered with legendary culture brand, Undefeated, to launch the Undefeated (UNDFTD) Collection with PUMA, a special collection centered around one of PUMA’s most iconic and celebrated styles: The PUMA Clyde.  This long term project will make Undefeated a true design partner with PUMA, designing a collection of PUMA Clydes that will be released beginning in April and throughout 2011 and beyond.

The partnership between PUMA and Undefeated is about pushing boundaries and refreshing a classic style and icon, The PUMA Clyde.  Undefeated and PUMA explored trends in the marketplace and collaborated to interpret these fashion and lifestyle nuances into footwear styles that are inclusive of both brands.  The first release from the collection will be on April 10^th followed by another release on June 10^th, and many more throughout 2011 and beyond.  Consumers can expect to see clean lines and a unique exploration of materials and textures.

“Undefeated pushes the envelope and is a leader in starting and spotting new trends throughout the sneaker and lifestyle community,” said Jay Piccola, President of PUMA North America.  “This partnership allows us to apply these influences to the most significant shoe in PUMA’s archive, the PUMA Clyde, and make it new, fresh and appealing to a whole new set of consumers that we know will adore each and every style.”

The PUMA Clyde was chosen for this project not only for its significance to the PUMA brand, but also to sneaker history and pop culture.  Customized for basketball great and current announcer for The New York Knicks Walt “Clyde” Frazier in 1973, the Clyde was the first signature basketball shoe.  Built on performance and style, it immediately became a mainstay on the court and on the street.  As a statement shoe, it was part of the uniform for cultural artists – DJs, b-boys, musicians and graffiti artists.  With its clean and classic styling, the PUMA Clyde continues to be on-trend today.

“We worked closely with PUMA’s design team, and were very collaborative in every sense of the word,” said Eddie Cruz, Co-Founder of Undefeated. “We shared ideas, brainstormed and pushed each other on the design language because we really wanted to make something great together.  The end result of the UNDFTD Collection with PUMA is just that – something great, forward thinking and cool – and we are excited to build on the momentum of this collection for seasons to come.”

We first heard of this brand when our brother (my biological, Brook Bergland, denim designer at Artful Dodger) came back from Japan with a pair of White Mountaineering jeans.  Heavy, quality, well constructed garments of the sleekest in Japanese design. This rucksack looks to be a continuation of their rugged practical-ness and stylish simplicity. With contrasting elements of herringbone body and khaki sued straps the White Mountaineering × PORTER 11SS HERRINGBONE RANGER BACKPACK  is a real looker.  While a large draw-string compartment and two big side pockets give it space to spend.  Another example of the Japanese fusion of design and function (how many places does that exact sentence exist on blogs everywhere?).

The consummate destruction-happy clothing line, Altamont has teamed up once again with the ananomous petty-crime-inclined artist for a select line that is sure to make you want to break things.  The release is announced with this mini vid, in which Neckface, skates and does a little shop lifting at a local mini-mart. Ok.  With Neckface’s metal heavy, low-budget horror aesthetic along with Altamont’s clean designs, the line should be a good representation of youthful angst and suburban decay .  I aint sayin, but, Im just sayin.
