There are certain things that are supposed to happen in college and sex with your girlfriend falls neatly in that category. The fact that a school is still holding onto values more suitable for a Quaker convention than a modern university makes us file this decision under supreme fuckery. BYU took a shellacking Wednesday night at home against New Mexico in their first game without Davies and it does not look to get any better as players must be looking over their shoulders for the love police to come knocking on their dorm room doors.

It’s All Star Weekend in L.A., meaning celebrity promoters promising VIP access, Pro-baller/model host and attendees, and even more bottle popping than if you combined every video played on BET Late Night for the last decade. The main thing that accompanies such parties are the little 5 by 8′s of design fail we know as party flyers. Full of way too much damn information, and pictures of cats famous, or not; wearing sunglasses and/or shooting off a pause face toward the camera.

After the Super Bowl’s full hour halftime complete with guest appearances from everyone, the NBA All-Star game recently announced its music line up for halftime, pre-game, and related festivities.

On All-Star Sunday Rihanna will hold down the headlining/half-time slot, Lenny Kravitz will debut a new single during the player introductions, while Josh Groban (USA) and Melanie Fiona (Canada) toss up their respective national anthems. At the All-Star Saturday night festivities which include the 3-point and dunk contest, folks will be treated to a minage(pause) of Cee-Lo, Keri Hilson, and Far East Movement. Cali Swag District, will perform on Friday at the T-Mobile Rookie Challenge.

Producer 9th Wonder and his record label Jamla Records caught a nice shout out from SportsCenter’s John Buccigross during the highlights. While not surprising that a hip hop reference was tossed out on SC, it is surprising that it was someone on the more “keep it true” side of hip hop, not to mention that it didn’t seem forced. Good look for 9th and Jamla, now go cop that “Death of a Pop Star” if you don’t have it and show support

Well once again Snoop doesn’t fail to impress, both his chef skills and his nimble vernacular (whipped and dipped, spooned and groomed). For next Sunday’s Super Bowl, he teamed up with Pepsi Max for a cooking video in which he show us his variation on a classic, the seven layer dip. “First get you a bowl.” While the recipe is pretty standard (corn chips with a seven layer dip spread out over the top) his variations are classically Snoop. First, he makes it an 8 layer dip with the addition of chicken wings(brilliant, and terrible) and a necessary addition to any Snoop recipe “o-reg-a-no.” We should have seen that coming

In more pause worthy, yet somewhat entertaining news the NFL has announced that Christina Aguilera will be singing the national anthem at the upcoming Super Bowl in Arlington, TX. Just what everyone’s waiting for, a full on pop mode line-up consisting of a  no doubt gospel-delic Christina Aguilera pre-show and a Black Eyed Peas headliner spot to satisfy legions of 40 plus cats that spent 5K on a ticket.  Sounds like it works, the lady has pipes but over here at Already we’re fans of pulling in some local talent that has national appeal(Erykah Badu maybe, or to keep it really real Ornette Coleman would set it off nicely).

This was the scene at Syracuse for students that wouldn’t be denied admission to today’s highly anticipated jump off between #3 Syracuse and #7 Villanova at the Carrier Dome. From what we understand many of these cats have been posted up for a few days, and we call that love and perhaps a little “out of pocket.”

Yesterday was a tough day for Brooklyn.  Not only did the Nets walk away from the Carmelo Anthony trade, sighting that the price was just too damn high, in energy. But the largest FBI raid on the mafia went down overnight, with some of the areas most notable crime figures heading to the bink.  This is probably not actually a bad thing for the borough, reducing crime in any aspect, organized included is a good thing. But for the people that live there, the culture of the place may have taken a bit of a hit.  The Nets will have to look to new places for more wins and the borough will have to find new people to do their racketeering. via NYT
