ALREADYTV.COM’S “REALLY-REAL” PRE-SEASON COLLEGE FOOTBALL TOP 25

Monday, August 9, 2010

.

Peep game everyone, this is the first annual AlreadyTV.com Preseason College Football Top 25 poll, built through months of research and analyzing mad data to school you on who’s really real for the upcoming 2010 season. And yes it’s probably obvious who are number one team is due to the extra big O-State logo above, but read on anyway and check out the rest of our picks.

1) OHIO STATE: We really do believe this is tOSU’s year, more so then every other year when it was supposed to be.

2. BOISE STATE: Miss me with all that they don’t play anybody talk, Boise returns 20 starters off of a team thats only lost 1 game in the last 2 seasons. See Boise if you want precision football at its finest

3) ALABAMA: Teams rarely repeat as Champions in college anything, especially if they lose players on D like Bama did. Yet and still the offense holds what is likely the best RB tandem in the nation, WR Julio Jones is a beast, and the returning QB is serviceable.

4) TCU: Before you choke on your Cheerios, just gonna let you know, these cats are legit. 16 starters returning, and probably the most underrated QB in the nation in Andy Dalton, they’re gonna give people fits(as long as they remember they have a 230 pound soph. running back that needs to get the ball in big games)

5) TEXAS: If the Horns can put together a decent running game, they would probably be in the number 1 spot. Problem is they haven’t been able to since Jamal Charles left campus. They still win the Big 12 this year.

6) WISCONSIN: Wisconsin, like tOSU, always seems to have everything in order to make a serious run, and they never do. This year they will, due to an ultra gangster offense

7) NEBRASKA: It’s good to see these guys back in the fold, returning talent on both sides of the ball, solid coaches(even if a little crazy), Big Red will end up back in the Big 12 title game for the last time.

8) OREGON: Would have been ranked a few spots higher if their ex QB wouldn’t have kept waking up in Police custody

9) MIAMI: After dealing with a slew of freshman and soph. starters for the last couple of years, will the Canes finally take the ACC? We think so

10) FLORIDA: Tough to lose that many starters to the NFL and comeback, but these Gators should still win the SEC East

11) VA TECH: Tyrod Taylor is a #realass QB, add to that great running backs, good receivers, and a defense that somehow repairs itself no matter how many starters they lose(5)

12) OU: QB Landry Jones gained mad experience last year after Sam Bradford went down,  and WR Ryan Broyles balled out of control. If Demarco Murray stays healthy and a young DT and LB step up look for the Sooners to do big things.

13) LSU: Paging Les Miles, with all the talent in the world sitting in BR, anything less than a 9/10 win season may send Miles exiting stage left.

14) OREGON STATE: With all of the Oregon/Stanford love coming from Pac 10 country right now, you’d forget OSU was a game away from going to the Rose Bowl, and returns 19 starters, as well as the best coach in the Pac 10(yeah, and what?)

15) PITT: Soph running back is gonna wreck the Big East again, Pitt wins the Big East this year.

16) UNC: If Marvin Austin doesn’t have to deal with any suspensions from Agent-gate, look for Carolina to be the strongest they’ve been since Mack Brown bolted to Texas

17) IOWA: Lots of returners from a team that found a way to win throughout last season, even if it was luck

18) UTAH: The Utes will be sneaking up on people again with most of the focus in the MWC on TCU again, if they don’t slip up you may see them in another BCS bowl

19) UGA: QB questions has Athens going crazy right now, Will Aaron Murray slide in and live up to his high school recruiting ranking?

20) USC:Year 1 of Kiffen watch going down right now, these guys still have all the talent to win the Pac 10 .

21) GA TECH: On the real, it usually takes opponents a couple of years to figure out Paul Johnson’s wild ass triple option spread offense. This year the Yellow Jackets will still have a good squad, but with the rest of the ACC looking up this year they won’t be falling for the offensive scheme as easily as in years past

22) HOUSTON: If the Coogs had a solid defense they would definitely be a Top 15 team, because these cats can and do score on everyone.

23) PENN STATE: With the Big 10 looking kind of real this year, and Penn State looking for a QB the Lions should slip a little.

24) FLORIDA STATE: Senior QB with Heisman aspirations, new head coach looking to breath life into a program with lots of talent

25) TEXAS A&M: Believe it or not the Aggies have loads of talent coming back to College Station this year, including a big time pro prospect at QB in Jerrod Johnson, and a great tailback in Christine Michael(yes we know). If they pull together they could challenge the Horns and OU in the South.

[...] Now relegated to a non-factor in the grand scheme of a college football national championship game, the AP poll still merits some attention do to the fact that its contributors are sports writers. And in typical sportswriter fashion there are Zero risky picks in the top 5 of this AP, it basically reads like everyone else’s(Boise’s not a risky pick). One day someone affiliated with the AP is gonna wild out and send in their ballot with Toledo written in big bold highlighter at the top of their list. We could get down with that, but for now check the rest of the AP poll below, and also check out our own “Really Real” Top 25 here. [...]
