TITG: The Weekender – Championship Weekend Edition

Friday, December 2, 2011

Why is Clemson coach Dabo Swinney the face of the last regular season “Weekender”, because he went triple O.G. on Steve Spurrier and the state of football in South Carolina. So please, enjoy the masterful way he spins words and truths to straight son his rival. And while you’re at it, check the weekend rundown and all of our picks for championship weekend below.

Friday December 2nd, 2011

UCLA @ (9) Oregon - The Bruins are gonna try and go super hard for Rick Neuheisel’s last game as head coach. But it will be for naught, because the Ducks are gonna go Griswold Christmas lights on that ass. UCLA more than most have shown that they simply just can’t defend against the Oregon offense.

Saturday December 3rd, 2011

(14) Georgia @ (1) LSU - Georgia’s been on a tear in the SEC east, but we’ve seen nothing to suspect they beat LSU this weekend. We’re picking the Tigers to roll, but wouldn’t be mad if Georgia’s defense could pull out enough stops for the victory.

(10)Oklahoma @ (3) Oklahoma State - The Pokes get an injured Sooner squad at home, but they probably still would’ve won if OU was healthy. We’re riding with the Pokes, who will still be looking at the BCS national championship on TV if they can’t win by 20+.

(5)Virginia Tech @ (20) Clemson - Clemson’s coach has strong words above, but his focus may be a little off since the South Carolina game was last weekend. But it likely wouldn’t matter if his focus was 100% on, because Va. Tech’s winning this game.

(24) Southern Mississippi @ (6) Houston - We’re through picking against Houston, even with the noise surrounding Kevin Sumlin to everywhere. The Cougars are just too strong, and will likely double whatever Southern Miss scores.

New Mexico @ (7) Boise State - A classic blue turf massacre, even Boise’s third string offense is gonna put up points.

Iowa State @ (11) Kansas State - Kansas State is a solid team, there’s no disputing that. But Iowa State is no punk, and should put up a hard fight before losing tomorrow.

(15) Wisconsin @ (12) Michigan State - Specifically in football, it’s hard to beat an opponent twice in the same season. That’s why we’re rolling with Wisconsin to win this rematch. Sparty needed a miracle to win the first one, don’t look for that to happen again.

(22) Texas @ (17) Baylor - Can’t remember the last time the Longhorns have been an underdog against Baylor, but also can’t remember when the Bears have had a player of RGIII caliber. Baylor wins this one due to the uncanny ability to turn out a big play.

UNLV @ (18) TCU - The Horned Frogs waive by to another conference with a game at home against UNLV. The Frogs have looked a little uninspired in their last few games (save for Boise), but they should still put up major points on a 2 win Rebels squad.
