True NY G’s: Giants Post Second Super Bowl Title In 4 Years

It was only the beginning of the season when Eli was ripped in the media for referring to himself as elite quarterback in the vein of Tom Brady, Drew Brees, and his brother Peyton. Only a couple of months after that public stoning, the public and subsequent media members were calling for head coach Tom Coughlin’s head. Which had pretty much become an annual thing for NY media, lose a few games, fire the coach. He’s an old throwback, that can’t relate to today’s type of player. He expects to much, and when they don’t follow through, he’s mean (he also expects all players to be on time).
But also, like clockwork, the Giants hit a late season stride. Fueled by a mean ass defensive front, and an offense that could get vertical in a hurry. Eli, and wideouts like Victor Cruz, Mario Manningham, and Hakeem Nicks, have turned into a dream team of sorts. And last night they showed the world, that they don’t bow down to anyone, including a Patriots team that’s been part of a ridiculous amount of Super Bowls to date.
To start off the Giants defense forced Brady into an error that put the Giants first points on the board, with a forced safety. And in the end, the Giants defensive front stifled a Patriots offensive line to the point of exhaustion. That coupled with the a few catch-able balls dropped in the open field, via the Patriots receiving corp. All of which allowed Eli to do what he’s done all season, which is lead his team down the field late in the game and get that W.
He had six 4th quarter comebacks during the regular season, so when he had to drive his team toward the endzone in classic 2min fashion; he was just working in his element. The younger Manning showed out with a 30-40-296yd-1td performance, which on top of the win earned him his second Super Bowl MVP. His receiving corp, led by Hakeem Nicks with 10 catches for 102yds; had an equally stellar night. Sure to get stupid paid this off-season, Victor Cruz had the lone touchdown through the air on a 2yd slant. Kicker Lawrence Tynes also kept the Giants in the game, with two clutch field goals in the 3rd quarter to keep the Giants in the game until the 4th. That coupled with a beast ass defense, allowed Eli to work his magic (magic like the beautiful 38yd fade route, pass and catch with Mario Manningham).
In the end the Giants, who’d been weathering a green and white storm in their own city for the past 3 seasons, let the world know that they bow down to nobody. Not the Jets, their division rivals, last season’s Super Bowl champs, and damn sure not the New England Patriots dynasty.
